Canadian pet brands based in Ontario

These 9 brands give Ontario, in Central Canada, as the location of their head office or their production facility. Being based here is not the same as being owned here, and neither is the same as manufacturing here, so each card below prints ownership and manufacturing as two separate statements. Where a company has not said something, we say that instead of filling the gap.

Why a brand might be missing

A brand appears on a province page only when the company itself states a city or province we can cite. Several Canadian brands publish no address at all, and a plant in one province does not put a company’s head office there. Rather than place those businesses on a map by inference, we leave them off this page and keep them on their own.

9 brands based in Ontario

Open Farm

Toronto, Ontario

Canadian-owned, partly made in Canada.

Canadian company, largely not Canadian manufacturing. Open Farm states it is a Canadian company headquartered in Toronto, and that its own manufacturing facility is in the United States. It says it also partners with facilities in Canada and Iceland, but does not say which product lines are made where.

The Crump Group Inc.

Mississauga, Ontario

Canadian-owned, partly made in Canada.

Crumps’ Naturals is a brand of The Crump Group Inc., founded in 2006 by Joe and Margot Crump in Caledon, Ontario and now producing from a Mississauga facility. Manufacturing is partial rather than complete: the company also opened a North Carolina facility in 2023 for its sweet-potato products, so not every product is made in Canada. It makes treats rather than complete food, and this site has no treats category yet, so this record is reachable from its Ontario province page and its own brand page.

Big Country Raw

Smithville, Ontario

Ownership not stated, made in Canada.

Yes for manufacturing. Big Country Raw states that it produces all of its raw pet food in Smithville, Ontario. Its founders are named on its About page, but it does not use the words family-owned or independent, so we have not stated its ownership structure.

Bold by Nature

Erin, Ontario

Partly Canadian-owned, made in Canada.

Bold by Nature produces raw pet food in its own 25,000 square foot facility in Erin, Ontario. Its homepage carries a "made in usa" badge alongside a "proudly canadian" one, which looks like a contradiction and is not: the company’s own FAQ shows the American reference is the origin of two ingredients, duck and fish, rather than a second plant. Ingredient sourcing is documented protein by protein, which is unusually specific for this category.

Carna4

Toronto, Ontario

Ownership not stated, made in Canada.

Carna4 is a Toronto pet food company that states its food is made in Canada. The Toronto-or-Calgary question that blocked this record on 2026-08-30 is settled: three Carna4-controlled sources give a Toronto corporate address. Ownership is a separate matter and remains unstated. The company describes itself as family-owned but does not say where the owning family is, and no registry search succeeded, so we do not record a Canadian ownership claim.

Chilly Dogs Inc.

Ottawa, Ontario

Partly Canadian-owned, made in Canada.

Chilly Dogs makes dog coats in Canada and says so on its own About page, describing itself as an independent business producing Canadian-made coats in over thirty sizes. Ownership is recorded as partial: independent means not owned by a larger group, which is a different fact from being Canadian-owned, and the company does not state the latter. We record no design claim at all, because nothing on the site separates where the coats are designed from where they are made. This is apparel, and the site has no apparel category yet.

Healthy Paws Pet Food

Smithville, Ontario

Partly Canadian-owned, made in Canada.

Healthy Paws Pet Food is a raw pet food maker in Smithville, Ontario. It states that its food is made in Canada and that most of its meats, fruits and vegetables come from local Canadian farms. Note the word most: the company itself scopes that claim and does not name the exceptions, which is why ingredients are recorded as partial rather than yes. This company is unrelated to the American pet insurance business of the same name.

Iron Will Raw Inc.

St. Catharines, Ontario

Ownership not stated, made in Canada.

Iron Will Raw produces its raw dog food at a HACCP-certified facility in St. Catharines, Ontario, and states so directly. Ownership is a different matter and we record it as unstated: the company was founded by Matt Bonanno and its About page still describes him leading it, while his LinkedIn title reads former CEO. That is a question about an officer, not about shareholding, so neither source tells us who owns the company.

Royal Canin

Guelph, Ontario

Not Canadian-owned, partly made in Canada.

No, and yes, depending which question you are asking. Royal Canin is owned by Mars, so it is not a Canadian company. But it built a factory and its Canadian head office in Guelph, Ontario in 2008, and says that plant makes dry cat and dog food. It is a foreign-owned brand with real Canadian manufacturing, which is exactly the case a simple Canadian or not-Canadian label gets wrong.

How this page is built

A province page opens only once at least 4 brands based there carry a verified Canadian origin claim. Below that we publish no page at all, because a province listing with two entries on it is worse than none. Every claim behind these brands links to the page we read and the date we read it.
