Sample review on Chewy

Finally!!!

I have spent years researching the best food for my pups. Our vet seems to focus only on the brand they carry in the office which is even more expensive than Wellness and lesser quality. Wellness is the only one I have found with mostly USA sourced ingredients and has a line for small breed, chungus pups. Our boy is about 10lbs overweight and he has lost 4lbs since June on this food. Our girlie pup was a couple of lbs higher than necessary and she is now at the perfect weight for their breed. They both love the food and scarf it right down.

Review from Chewy…

Whole Earth Farms for my picky Eater

My dog only loves the Red Meat Only (beef, pork and lamb) or the Salmon & White Fish canine foods but we have been looking for the 4# or even 12# bags hard to get. My dog is allergic to poultry meal & blends. It’s been very hard to get in smaller quantities! The odd the is I know it co manufacture by Merrick but she doesn’t like Merrick blends. I really think it’s the heart shape perfect size kibble she loves!! I may have to get the larger bag find a storage solution she’s only 28#’s. That amount would last us 6-8 months. We live in a small apt so not much extra storage.

My dogs love this food! After reading some reviews and seeing a reasonable price, I decided to order a bag. One of my dogs are usually pretty picky, but he loves this dry food. Good puppy food

This is my first time trying this brand for my one year old mini schnauzer. These kibbles are smaller in size compared to others I’ve tried so they would be easier on digestion. The main ingredients are chicken and sweet potato. I like that they also include omega 3-6, glucosamine, and chondroitin which would be good for joints, skin, and coat. My puppy enjoy this and hasn’t had any stomach issues.

Review on Chewy…

So happy with this kibble!

My 17-lb Boston Terrier, Olsen, was previously on Hollistic brand food until about 1.5 months ago when we switched to Core. Holistic was a great brand, but extremely expensive and difficult to find (our local carrier often ran out of the small breed kibble). I was hesitant to switch and unsure of how it would affect the pup, but we slowly rolled over to the Core after a few friends recommended it, and we’re so glad we did! Olsen loves the food and the kibble is a good size for him, so no issues so far with him eating too much too fast and choking. It’s proven to be a good nutritional option too, as his weight has not been affected by the switch. The scale for knowing how much to feed your pup based on its weight is really helpful. We wanted a high-quality kibble that was more affordable for us, and we’ve been so happy we switched! The auto-ship option is also extremely convenient. 5 stars!

Boston Terrier and English bulldog love this

Tried many canned foods as a tasty treat mixed with dry food. This is one of their favorites. It is a pate type food (not chunky) which mixes well. Sometimes the pate type is a nice change for them over chunky wet food.

A Guide to Choosing the Perfect Food for Your Boston Terrier

Their unique dietary needs require special attention to ensure optimal health and happiness.

Life Stage and Activity Level

Choose a dog food specifically formulated for your pet’s life stage (puppy, adult, or senior) and activity level.

Puppies need higher protein and calorie content to support their growth, while seniors may require fewer calories and a more easily digestible formula. Active dogs need more energy-dense food, whereas less active or overweight dogs may benefit from a weight management formula.

Quality Ingredients

Opt for a high-quality dog food with real meat or fish as the primary protein source. Avoid by-products, artificial preservatives, colors, and flavors. Look for whole, natural ingredients like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains (if not grain-free) for a well-rounded diet.

Grain-Free vs. Grain-Inclusive

Boston Terriers can be prone to food allergies and sensitivities, which can manifest as skin issues, ear infections, or gastrointestinal problems. If your dog exhibits signs of an allergic reaction, consider trying a grain-free or limited-ingredient diet. Consult your veterinarian before making any significant changes to your dog’s diet.

Size-Specific Kibble

Boston Terriers have small mouths and can struggle with larger kibble sizes. Choose a food with small, easy-to-chew kibble pieces to prevent choking and facilitate proper digestion.

Balanced Nutrition

Ensure the dog food you choose meets the nutritional guidelines established by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). Look for a statement on the packaging indicating that the food is complete and balanced for your dog’s specific life stage.

Boston Terrier Health Issues

Brachycephalic Syndrome

Due to their short snouts and flat faces, Boston Terriers can experience breathing difficulties, including snorting, snoring, and wheezing. In more severe cases, it may require surgical intervention to improve their quality of life.

Eye Problems

Their large, protruding eyes make them susceptible to various eye issues such as corneal ulcers, cataracts, cherry eye, and glaucoma. Regular eye check-ups with your veterinarian are essential to maintain your dog’s eye health.

Patellar Luxation

This condition occurs when the kneecap (patella) slips out of its normal position, causing discomfort and mobility issues. Patellar luxation can range from mild to severe and may require surgical intervention in more serious cases.

Allergies

Boston Terriers can be prone to food and environmental allergies, which can manifest as skin irritations, ear infections, or gastrointestinal issues. Identifying and managing allergens through diet or medication can help alleviate symptoms.

Deafness

Congenital deafness can affect Boston Terriers, particularly those with predominantly white coats. Regular hearing tests and monitoring for any changes in your dog’s hearing are essential for early detection.

Heart Conditions

Boston Terriers can be prone to heart issues such as pulmonic stenosis, a narrowing of the pulmonary valve, and mitral valve disease. Regular veterinary check-ups, including heart screenings, can help detect and manage these conditions.
